Am I Growing My Business the Right Way?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]One of the greatest questions you'll ever face as you're growing your career or your own business is this: Am I doing it right?Ask for advice and you are sure to get endless amounts of replies with advice, solicitations from businesses wanting to help you grow your social media, your email list, create product, take photos, write content for your posts, etc. Now, don't get me wrong. There is going to come a day when some of these items are things you HAPPILY delegate to someone on your team, or you hire a company to take over for you. And that's a win, my friend! That said, when you're building your career or business, there is a lot of time, energy, failures, successes, creativity and pep-talk needed. The further along you get, the more likely you are to question yourself.Am I capable of this?Do I really have the talent for this that I once knew I had?Am I doing it all wrong? One of my favorite quotes comes from a commencement speech that Steve Jobs gave to the students at Stanford University. He said, "You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me know, and it has made all the difference in my life."Trust. Trust that it will all come full circle. Trust that the failures are helping you get closer and closer to the succeeding moment. Trust that the long days that end with tears are thickening your skin. Trust that you have it within you. Trust that the dots are connecting even when you can't see them.I assure you that you're not on this path by mistake. You have it within you, and someday the dots will all connect. As many of us Type-A'ers still need some sort of evaluation form for ourselves (ironic, isn't it? These gave us anxiety when we were in school, yet we insist on continuing to evaluate ourselves to this day!) Here are 3 things you can do to check in with yourself if you fear you've veered from the path..

  1. Write out your daily activities - all of them - for a week straight.
    • This won't work with just one day of activities, so you want to measure an entire week. Are all of these activities pointing back to the ultimate goal you're working toward? Are you beginning to work on more than one big project? Be careful! Multitasking is not a badge for a reason. You're likely going to find that you're either working with no real routine or system in place - OR - that you're chasing multiple projects at once.
  2. Narrow your focus to the one BIG goal you've been working toward.
    • Chances are, you realized above that you were suddenly working on more than increasing your sales. You were also trying to aggressively grow your social media following, create a new program, and write a book. Hear my heart on this: You're capable of every single one of those dreams, but you are making it harder to achieve even ONE of those dreams when you chase them all at once.
    • Grab a pen & paper. Write out all of your goals. Every single one of them. Some of those goals can't happen until other goals are achieved first, right? I want you to narrow down to ONE goal that you need to focus your attention on right now. Which one goal needs to be reached before the next can fall in to place? If you focus all of your attention on this goal, think how much quicker you can achieve it and move to #2 on your list. What if next week's daily activities all pointed back to this one goal? You'd be there much sooner, I promise.
  3. Remind yourself of your WHY.
    • This is powerful. When you're alone with your thoughts, remind yourself what it was that set your soul on fire. Remind yourself why this goal (being promoted, growing your business, being the best mom you can be, finding gratitude in every day, working on your marriage, the list goes on..) is so important to you. We know our WHY when we begin a journey, but life's twists and turns sometimes have us turned around and we lose sight of where we were headed and why we were going there in the first place.

Now that you've hit the reset button, you can approach the rest of the week with intention as to where your time and energy should be spent. The BEST TIME OF DAY to make the biggest impact on yourself & your business is in the morning. Change yours now, and see the difference firsthand! [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row equal_columns="true" attached="true" css=".vc_custom_1560467774094{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-right: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 30px !important;background-color: #4e5d7a !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}"][vc_column width="2/3"][mk_fancy_title tag_name="span" color="#ffffff" size="24" line_height="90" font_weight="300" txt_transform="uppercase" margin_bottom="0" font_family="none"]Download The Morning Routine[/mk_fancy_title][mk_fancy_title tag_name="span" color="#ffffff" size="18" margin_bottom="0" font_family="none"]Customized to make you more productive and successful.[/mk_fancy_title][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][mk_button dimension="outline" corner_style="rounded" size="large" url="http://stephaniehendrick.com/the-morning-routine/" align="center" margin_top="20" margin_bottom="0" margin_right="0" outline_skin="light"]Download Today![/mk_button][/vc_column][/vc_row]
